Writing on the wall

Presidential hopeful and perennial immigration flip flopper has thrown out some red meat for tea partiers to chew on.  During his first week of his presidency, the presidential hopeful would undue President Obama's 2012 and 2014 executive orders on Immigration.  This would mean no more provisional waivers for unlawful presence, no more deferred action for childhood arrivals and definitely no more Deferred Action for parental accountability (DAPA).  This is sad news for many reasons but primarily because he obviously feels like he can't get elected unless he takes this stance.  The exact same problem Mitt Romney had with his presidential run.  They say those who do not learn from their mistakes are destined to repeat them over and over again.  For the time being, if you qualify for any of these programs, please make sure you take advantage of them before they're gone.  If we do get a GOP president, your undocumented parents and children are fair game.  You've been warned!

Fiscal Year 2016 H1b cap met in first seven days of the month.

Did your case make the cut?  Each year, USCIS received several thousand more H1b cases than they can possibly accept (65,000).  A lottery will be instituted for those cases that were accepted before the cap was met.  Keep your fingers crossed, but don't forget, you can't begin employment on H1b until October 1, 2015 (provided your case is approved)!

Mayors of USA call for end to Executive Action Delay

This delay in the President's order have affected the economies of major cities in the USA and stunted the advantages that would flow from the law including job creation, increased tax revenue, and improved public safety.  Let's hope their request does not fall on deaf ears.

US Representative Joaquin Castro confident, executive orders on immigration reform be resolved quickly

US Representative Joaquin Castro expressed hope the President's Executive Order on Immigration reform would be resolved in short order.  Enactment would further improve the US economy.  The Center for American Progress (CAP) hosted a press call about the fiscal benefits of Obama's two deferred action programs - the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and new Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) programs. The two programs would grant approximately 4.9 million eligible undocumented immigrants the opportunity to stay in the U.S., avoid deportation for three years and obtain a work permit.
